Deep Fried Turkey Recipes and Marinade Information For a Turkey Deep Fryer

When you were doing just a regular turkey in the oven, you never had to worry about such a problem like marinades and enhancing the flavor. It is much easier to do this when you're deep frying your turkey. Typically you'll get an injector with your deep fryer that will allow you to inject marinades directly into the turkey meat. As you can see this is much better than just putting something on the outside of the bird.

The best places to inject into the meat are on the turkey breast, legs and thighs. But you can practically marinade any part of the bird that you want. Basically if there is a part of the bird that you plan on eating than you should do an injection for it. Obviously some areas will be easier to get at than others, but try your best.

What type of Marinade?

Well you have a lot of different marinades that you can start using that are completely commercial. You just buy it and you start injecting. Plus you have the ability to make your own. But if you're making your own you have to make sure that things dissolve well. The injector actually pretty thin, so everything you put into it has to dissolve.

Marinade Recipes

I thought we could start with a few recipes that you could start using if you want.

BBQ Marinade

This is one that will give a delicious BBQ taste to your bird. This recipe will make enough for 8-15lb turkey.

  • Melted Butter - 3 Tablespoons
  • Honey or Maple Syrup - 1/4 Cup
  • Favorite BBQ Sauce Concentrate - 3 Tablespoons
  • Apple Cider Vinegar - 2 Tablespoons
  • Tabasco Sauce - 1 Teaspoon

Making this is pretty simple. You'll want to mix all the ingredients in a small saucepan over a medium heat. You do this until all the ingredients have mixed well. Remember, everything has to be disolved. Let it cool before you inject it into the turkey.

Outter Marinade

This is a different type of marination that you can do to the outside of the bird before cooking. This is meant for a turkey of roughly 12-14lbs.

  • Italian Dressing - 16 ounces
  • Cayenne Pepper - 0.5 Cups
  • Black Pepper - 0.5 Cups
  • Creole Seasoning - 1 Cup
  • Garlic Powder - 2 Tablespoons
You want to mix everything into a bowl. Only use around 12 ounces of the dressing to being with. After you mix these things you'll want to rub it over the turkey. You can use the remaining 4 ounces of dressing to fill the cavity. All you have to do is let it marinate 8 hours before you throw it in the deep fryer.
