Giving More Thanks During Thanksgiving
I thought I should give you some ideas of how you can have more thanks during Thanksgiving. I think a lot of people focus on the meal and the holiday you get for this, but they never really understand that this is about thanking. It is nice to have a reminder for friends and family when they come over to eat what they can do for some more thanks. I'm going to give you some ideas. A Thanking Box What you can do is give people a few pieces of tiny paper when they arrive and ask them to write something they're thankful for. The amount of thought that goes into this doesn't really matter. It doesn't have to be super serious reasons. You can be thankful for your favorite television show, or the health of your children. You have that range of choice available to you. Just put all the pices of paper in a box and mix them up. After everyone has finished eating and are still sitting around the table, start pulling out some of the slips and reading them out loud. It lets everyone hear what others are thankful for. It also helps if you didn't think of something and someone else reads it. Thank Those That Are Serving It doesn't matter what your opinion is on the war or whether your country is even in a war right now. We all want to support the men and women that are defending us from foreign threats. We often forget about these people because you only hear about them in the news when something bad happens. It's just nice to remember those that are sacrificing, even sacrificing their lives, to make sure that you're free to enjoy a Thanksgiving. Thank Those Around You You can do this in many different ways. Sitting around the table can be a good time to this, but find at least one person at the table and tell them that you're thankful for something they have done. They may have helped you when you got a flat tire or they could picked up your kids from school when you were stuck at work. It doesn't matter what you choose to thank them for, it just a matter of showing that you appreciate the fact that your friends and family can help you out. |
